Hi,
we' re facing a weird behaviour when creating an event on calendar using the View By Month menu item type.

More specifically: we worked normally on Joomla 3.4 + jevents 3.4. Infact we were able to create events with the right date both on backend and on frontend.
Then, presumably due to updating joomla to version 3.5, the creation of events on frontend began to behave in a strange manner. Infact, though the events date appeared in a correct format (continental german - d-m-y) in phase of creation, nonetheless, once saved, it appeared in a different format (m-d--y) thus putting the event in a wrong month and day.
Then, we tried to update the Jevents component using the extension update view in Joomla administrator (as suggested in this forum) and reached the latest version (3.4.9_1). But now the behaviour is even worst. When creating the event in frontend, infact, now the system generates a repeating event starting 1. January 1970, 01:00am and finishing today(!).
We checked the configuration but it seems all ok and never changed it since when it was working correctly (configuration date format: "continental german", Event editing date format: "d/m/y";).

Can you please give us any suggestion?

Thanks in advance

Are you sure you have version 3.4.9_1 of JEvents - there is no such version.

Can you update to Joomla 3.5.1 - does this change anything?

p.s. just read a different post and see that my colleague had accidentally created a duplicate file (3.4.9_1) so that should no longer show as an update

Can you give us your whole JEvent support information (Available from the support information Icon in the backend of JEvents) - thanks

Hi,
thank you very much for your answer.

I report the Support information data at the end of this post.
Please note: yesterday I said that the weird behaviour had changed after Joomla update and now we faced a new strange behaviour. But I was wrong it hadn't changed. The 2 strange behaviours (wrong date format and false repeating event starting 1 jan 1970) are both present but they happen depending on the date you choose in the event creation. I try to explain: A) if you choose a date in (format d/m/y) for which the day can be intepreted as a month without loosing sense (i.e. the day is between 1 and 12) than the event is saved with the wrong date format (m/d/y) and is placed in the corresponding month (different from the one you intended to place it) B) if you choose a date (in format d/m/y) for which, instead, the day can't be interpreted as a month (i.e a day between 13 and 31) than the event is saved as a repeating event starting 1 Jan 1970.
I'm attaching some screenshots showing the problems.
Thanks again

Cannot add the 3 pictures for the false repeating event creation, since the maximum is 3 attachment.

That is VERY strange - I don't see this and its a pretty fundamental piece of functionality.

If you create the event in the backend of Joomla and hit 'save' as opposed to 'save and close' are the dates correct there?

Same problem here...
I can add / edit events from backend ok,
But problems with date on frontend creation

If I add an event by the front end, The first problem I have is that I have AM/PM buttons.
I checked the setting in the component stating that I do not want to use the 12 hr AM PM type of time

Second problem:
When adding an event by the frontend, the DATEPICKER does not work, so you have to add the date manualy.
Third problem: Entered ad Eg 11/04/2016 you can save the event, but when checked in the backend the date is noted as 04/11/2016 Being 4th of November and not 11th April !!

Hope this helps in tracking down the problem.

btw: Using Joomla 3.5.1. and Jevents 3.4.9

Hello,

Please can you try using the Joomla! protostar template. Does it work as expected in the fronted then?

Many thanks
Tony

No, changing to Protostart does not change the problem.

I use a template with Helix 2 as a framework

I confirm that in backend there are no problems. The problems are only on frontend view. Besides, as in Tonk's case, the datepicker does not work and I need to manually insert the date

Can you both send me login details via PM please - it sounds like a javascript problem specific to something that is installed on your sites.

Having looked at Tonk's site it transpired that the template based on the Helix template was not including the javascript files that JEvents had told it to output. This is a problem with the template

Setting the specific menu item to use the Protostar template was a short term fix.

You therefore need to contact your template developer to ask why they are not outputting the javascript files being specified by the component.
