Hi, all, simple question, which to the JEV templates is the most adaptive/responsive. Iconic, Flat, etc. I have been away for a year and I am sure that a lot has changed.

Hello Tim,

We would probably recommend FlatPlus. Unfortunately not much has changed over the last year, both myself and Geraint had a lot of personal issues to deal with and we wanted to see which way Joomla! 4 was going.

BUT! Good news, we have been working hard behind the scenes on our next big version, this won't have too much of an issue on the frontend initially but massive general improved changes :-)

Many thanks
Tony

Thanks Tony, I have sort of stopped following the progress of Joomla 4, except to note that it will use Bootstrap 4 for with CSS Grids for layout, something I and others were clamoring for.

I have a question about importing Facebook events into the JEvents calendar, but that will be a separate post as it is a different topic.

I will use FlatPlus per your recommendation.

No problem Tim, quite a few did. But it's on steady ground now and looking forward to a good release. Some awesome new features too!

Many thanks
Tony

Since I can't figure out how this forum works, I will ask a new question here, Tony, or Geraint.

I am setting up a category structure as below, and was wondering if JEvents can handle something like this or if this would slow database operations to a crawl. And this is just the beginning, there are the other 49 states that I would want to eventually include. I want to knit the entire state of Colorado together, and I want to make it easy for people to see what events are going on in which location of Colorado. I eventually want to do this for all of the states. This is to help give the little communities a voice and to feel like they are a part of the whole. I don't want to be like Facebook that makes everyone feel like homogeneous rice pudding and not important at all.

Did you think about using managed locations as opposed to event categories to do this? You can then do geofilter based searching for events within a certain distance of a location.

If you want to fo a hirearchical category system like the one you show above it would also work and you could include events from subcategories along with parent categories. It should be pretty fast since we Joomla uses a nested structure for categories so picking up child categories is quite simple.

You may want to use custom fields or tags to track the 'type' of event to keep the structure a little simpler and give you 2-dimensional classification.
