Hi,

In almost all of my sites I use NoNumber's ReReplacer plugin. It is very useful to make small changes and/or add some (help-) texts to the page. Often these changes are small and using this plugin is much easier than making a template override.

However, it seems that ReReplacer won't work in JEvents' front end submission form. As far as I know ReReplacer, this could be due to the fact that the JEvents form code is generated after the execution of the system plugins. Could you please tell me if this is the case? Or do you have other information that could help me to solve this situation?

Kind regards, Frits

Splendid. And I also feel a bit silly as I might have figured it out by myself if I looked a bit closer...

Thanks, Frits

Hi Frits,

you can completely customise the event edit page see:

JEvents -> Custom Layouts -> Event Edit Page

Many thanks
Tony

Sorry, as I'm busy on it, new things come to mind. It seems that by default not every field had a tooltip. Would it be possible to add tooltips somehow.

Maybe I should say that I do know how to create a template override if necessary, which maybe could solve most of my questions. However I always prefer a less intrusive solution if possible, because although template overrides should be safe in case of component updates, I know they sometimes do give issues.

Kind regards, Frits

Hi Tony,

I can see that the modules positions are working ok, but the result in the front end edit screen is not exactly as I intended. I would like to add instructions on field level. You could say that I'd like the text that is in the tooltip now to be displayed on-page. This is because to my experience people tend to read what they can readily see but do not make an effort to check if there's a tooltip. Maybe here's some direction we could try?

Frits

Edit: Well, maybe I could just add one instruction on top of the page, urging people to read the tooltips... In hat case I would like to restyle the tooltips a bit, they have a black background now that looks a bit unfriendly to me. Could you help me to find the appropriate css selectors?

Hi Frits,

I know I use it. But It all relative to the methods it's called on to modify.

Let us know how you get on with the modules.

Many thanks
Tony

Technically, ReReplacer is a system plugin, I don't know if that would (should) make a difference?

Anyway I shall try your solution using special module positions.

Hi Frits,

It's likely because we do not call content plugins on a form page.

See:

https://www.jevents.net/frequently-aske ... in-jevents

For adding a module in a few JEvents Positions to add content.

Many thanks
Tony

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your reply. Most important is that I would like to add some text blocks containing instructions for the users. We allow anonymous submission of events, so we want to make it 'fool proof'. Also I'd like to override some language strings - and yes, I know that one would typically do this in the Joomla core language override section. However this would also change these strings in other parts of JEvents, where I do not want them to be changed.

By the way, I succeeded in using ReReplacer in the front end Locations submission pop-up. But not in the form for the event.

Hi Frits,

Can you please explain what you are trying to replace in the submission form with rereplacer?

Many thanks
