The default .ICS encoding is UTF-8 according to my references.

When I import an .ICS, some UTF-8 characters are not rendered as UTF-8.

Example 0xC2A0 is a non-breaking space in UTF-8 but shows up as 'Â' in the event description text.

The .ICS content appears to be imported correctly and the database collation is utf8mb4_unicode_ci so I'm not certain where the disconnect is...

Suggestions?

Attached is a screenshot of a detailed example...
I imported the .ics into my desktop Outlook and it rendered perfectly - no special characters.
I then exported the calendar from Outlook, opened the .ics file in my editor and changed the text encoding to UTF-8
I then imported the same .ics file into jevents and the special characters are still showing.

The attached picture shows the editor window and the imported jevent calendar entry for the same event.

Can you give me access to the iCal file you are importing so I can take a look and run a test locally?
