Is there any capabilities to prevent a user from creating an event in the past?
Also- is there any capabilities (or planned capability) to have a setting that would prevent a user from creating an event within a set time frame in the future.

Example: User wants to create event 24 hours from now - However business rules for users are that no events should be created within 48 hours of event. Would the user be prevented from creating this event?

The only manner to enforce a rule like that is to not allow users to publish events, but only create them and then an admin/approver could publish the event if it met our organization's rules for creating events for the calendar.

Correct

It would be possible to write a plugin to enforce your rules but it would need to be a piece of custom development since its not a feature that would have wide appeal

OK. So JEvents has the ability to prevent display of an event until a specified time. But there is nothing to prevent a user from creating an event 1 or 2 hours before the event occurs. i.e. I create and publish an event 1 hour from now even though my organization prohibits that.

No its not. The event could be created at any time but the event would not be visible on the site until October 29th at 8:00 PM.

Thanks for responding @geraint

We have a club policy that an event cannot be entered within 48 hours of the event occurring. So if the event was for a Halloween party Oct. 31 @ 8:00 PM. The event would need to be entered by October 29th at 8:00 PM.

Is this was the club member add-on would do?

Thanks!

We do have a club member addon that allows you to block the display of events outside a specified time range - would that meet your needs? So the events could be created ahead of time but only displayed within 24 hours of 'now'
