Hello - I'm moving from WP to Joomla. I have been using The Events Calendar, and I'm trying to compare features/needs. I have been doing some research but decided I would just ask here to verify before spending time with a trial.

I see that I can do list view, but on examples, I don't see descriptions. I need Name of event, dates, start and end times, location city, (no need for address)and categories. I need to be able to have at end of description a hyperlink to the event site. I don't want to have a picture or map. I don't want them to have to click to read more so need a description field with unlimited characters.

I also need categories that go several levels deep from the parent.

Would like a filter that people can click on as many options as they wish. I.E. Live event, Angels, Tarot.

Need a search section that users can put in names, event types, etc...

I don't want past dated events to show up.

Need to import from CSV files, FB events, iCalendar, etc...

Here is the link to my WP site so you can see the info that I needed to show: http://footstepsofwisdom.com/events/?action=tribe_list&;tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=list

Kind regards,

We have a layout editor that allows you to choose what to display in the event detail page, list views or calendar cells - see https://www.jevents.net/frequently-asked-questions/event-detail-layout-editing

I also need categories that go several levels deep from the parent.

You can have multi-level categories and assign your events to multiple ones if you wish

Would like a filter that people can click on as many options as they wish. I.E. Live event, Angels, Tarot.

We have a filter module that you can configure to show the specific filters you want e.g. category, text search, geographic location or proximity, custom field values, date ranges etc.

We have a time limit addon that you can use to block past events from showing up anywhere on your site.

Need to import from CSV files, FB events, iCalendar, etc...

We have a CSV and iCal import facility and FB events can be imported by generating an iCal export of these events. These can all be set to auto-update so that when the source feed changes the data in JEvents changes too.

1, Some sites have several hundred events per day - when you have this many events appropriate filtering and caching is important but performance should not be an issue (unless you are on a cheap shared hosting account). Several hundred events in total should be fine on most servers.

2. Are you talking about displaying the date range in the list view or the event appearing on multiple days?

3. There are no issues relating to JEvents and Zoo and in fact we offer a CCK plugin that allows you to associated Zoo Items with specific events and link back and forwards between them easily

Hello -

A few more questions and then I will purchase:

1. I will have several hundreds of events. Will this have slow loading time?
2. In the List view some events will be for one day and others consecutive. In playing around here I don't see a way to do something like June 5-10, 2017. Is that possible?
3. Does it play well with Zoo products?

Thanks!

hi Cindy

The JEvents Club themes are responsive (https://www.jevents.net/products-new/addons/club-layouts) - you can see demos of these in action at http://www.jeventsdemo.net/

We have a filter module that allows you to choose which filters you want to make available - different addons add extra fields to this list e.g. the managed locations/venues addon adds geocoding, location name, address type filters

No limitations on characters in your descriptions and the custom fields addon allows you to incorporate lots of extra fields.

I would recommend you try it out and join the JEvents club - if you then find it doesn't do what you need you can request a refund.

Hi again,

Is jevents responsive? I will be using list view. is the responsive mode limited? Users need to search by multiple fields: Name, city, topic, etc.

What are the limitations?.

And can I have as many characters in the description field that I want?

Thanks!
