Hi all,

I'm getting a weird thing happening when "somebody" on my deparmtment network makes a booking on the Jevents calender.

As can be seen in the screen dump, there is no name in the "event creator"-column.
I'm the admin and would very much like to know who made this particular booking.

The settings for Jevents is public access for viewing the calendars.
Creating events are only allowed for regged users, ie the user must be logged in to the intranet Joomla-site.

My first idea was that a user might have created a joomla site account w/o a name, only the user name, and therefore no real name is displayed. After checking the usual suspects (mac users) in our Windows-only environment, this doesn't seem to be the case.

I have no idea where to even start troubleshooting this...

Pointers and hints are greratly appreciated!

Edit:
Checked; Everybody with an account on our Joomla-site has a user name and a real name. All accounts are activated and enabled.

If you edit this event as the JEvents admin user what do you see in the creator field?

Is it possible that a user created an event and the user has subsequently been deleted from the system?

The field is empty. Please see the attached screen dump.

That was a thought I had too, but no.
This particular event was created about six months ago, and I know for a fact I didn't remove any accounts. I'm the sole admin on the Joomla site, and my routine is to disable any account that isn't being used. I refrain from deleting the account till I'm sure the user won't return in the future.

There is one.

Should I look for something in particular there?

IS it enabled? If so, make sure the creator field is included within this layout. Otherwise it may not be able to set the creator.

You are attempting to publish a customised layout that is the same as the default layout - it has therefore NOT been published since this is not necessary and can lead to complications at a later date. You should only publish a layout if it has been customised.

I haven't donw any changes to any of the custom layouts.

No need to publish, if it was published it would have been having an effect.

Can you send me super user login details and logins of the user having the issue please?

Many thanks

Sorry, no. It's an intranet server, with no external (to the world) access on our uni-network.

Is there some other way to do this?

Hello,

Do you have any security plugins installed?

That looks like the GWEJson plugin is not installed? Can you search for GWE within the plugin manager.

Many thanks
Tony

None, except for the default ones, you know - Googles two-factor stuff, captcha and so on, which are disabled.

Searching on GWE didn't yield anything, but when I searched on json, it gave the below element where gwejson is mentioned.

Is this as it shoud be?

That is interesting. Can you enable debug mode in Joomla! and also maximum error reporting and also finally enable your browser console and view the event creation page again?

Many thanks
Tony

Debug mode on, and error reporting set to maximum.
Not sure what you mean by " enable your browser console".

In any case, viewing the event with the missing creator (see dump below), gives some information.
Can you make out the info in the pic?

I think this might be related with your server configuration. Can you please try to increase max_input_vars setting in your php.ini configuration to 2000 ?

My hipothesis is that with max_input_vars=1000 son parameters are not being correctly saved and then the event is being saved with no event creator related to it.

It was outcommented in php.ini on my Joomla-server.
In any case, I've uncommented it and increased the parameters to 2000.

Unfortunately the problem remains with no event creator.

It's weird, as it's only those two events are like that.

Maybe it's better to just ignore them?

So for that event the issue is solved, right? In that case, that was the issue on your server. Unfortunately there is no way to recover the information of the original creator of the event although we can give you a hint to batch asign one of your users as creator of all the events with no creator.

Batch assign - there's an idea.

Thanks all for your assistance!
