We have hundreds of locations for our calendars and need to upload locations from CSV.
Currently when upload events with LOCATION Denver, CO it creates a new location but not with the state, just Denver, then google maps can't display correctly.
I can create locations through the interface but very time consuming.
How do I upload locations in bulk?

Hello,

So if you have them as part of the events? you could import them that way?If you then go into JEvents Managed Locations -> options -> Event Integration -> Match Locations for iCal Imports

to Yes

You could also have a single dummy event which the import overrides everytime, but as it has a location it will add the new location each time.

Many thanks
Tony

Match locations for ical imports - YES
Yes, it retrieves and displays the name of the location from the csv file, for instance as "Denver, CO"
but it does not create a new city, state and country so that I can display a google map.
JEVLOCATION_CITY JEVLOCATION_STATE JEVLOCATION_COUNTRY

I need to upload a spreadsheet that only contains venues and locations, so I can "match locations for ical imports" to display a google map.
I don't see any place in jEvents locations to upload from file.
thanks, Kathy

Hello Kathy,

Can you please provide a copy of the file you were uploading? carcam can review as I beleive we may need a slightly specific way to match the import.

Many thanks
Tony

I'm using a CSV file and it's not supported as a format I can upload here in the forum.
Can you add it as a supported upload file type? Then I'll upload a sample spreadsheet.

Also I'm getting this error when uploading cvs file
Illegal mix of collations (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8mb4_general_ci,COERCIBLE) for operation 'like'

I'm converting xlsx to csv.

Hello,

can you zip the file?

I would advise you use admin tools and run a database collation fix.

Many thanks
Tony

Hi Kathy,
we do not have an "import locations" feature yet, but I have added it to the Todo list in the next release.

Which did you choose in "System to use" parameter just above the "Match Locations for iCal Imports" setting?

Also, can you please provide the CSV file (or just some content of that file - like 3 or 4 lines of it) so that we can check? Basically you should be able to import directly in the Database all location data but categories.

I have a need to import locations into jevents as well. I have attached a sample with one record. I am pretty comfortable with uploading using phpadmin, but would need what fields to supply, whether an alias is required, how to set them as NOT common.

Is there a way to do this? I have over 400 locations to import.
