Hi at all,

after my J2.5 site has been hacked, I have to build up a new fresh Joomla 3.4 installation with latest JEvents.

But how do I backup all my categories and all my Dates from different calendars and restore them into the fresh installation.

Here are the support informations from the old site:

PHP Version : 5.3.28-1~dotdeb.0
MySQL Version : 5.1.73-1+deb6u1
Joomla : 2.5.22
component_com_jevents : 3.1.21
component_com_jce : 2.4.2
module_mod_jevents_cal : 3.1.21
module_mod_jevents_custom : 3.1.21
module_mod_jevents_filter : 3.1.21
module_mod_jevents_latest : 3.1.21
module_mod_jevents_legend : 3.1.21
module_mod_jevents_switchview : 3.1.21
plugin_finder_jevents : 3.1.21 (not enabled)
plugin_search_eventsearch : 3.1.21

And here they are for the new installation:

PHP Version : 5.3.28-1~dotdeb.0
MySQL Version : 5.1.73-1+deb6u1
Joomla : 3.4.1
component_com_jevents : 3.2.12
module_mod_jevents_cal : 3.2.12
module_mod_jevents_custom : 3.2.12
module_mod_jevents_filter : 3.2.12
module_mod_jevents_latest : 3.2.12
module_mod_jevents_legend : 3.2.12
module_mod_jevents_switchview : 3.2.12
plugin_content_jevents : 3.2.12
plugin_finder_jevents : 3.2.12 (not enabled)
plugin_search_eventsearch : 3.2.12

Thanks

Hello Wolfgang,

You will be best creating a JEvents Export Menu Item on the old site and exporting them.

Then on the new site go to: JEvents -> Calendars and create a new calendar, select from file and click load ical. Then your events and categories will be created.

Many thanks
Tony

Hi Tony,

thanks for reply. It works. :D

At the old Installation (J2.5.x)
At the backend I added a new menu-entry "Export" to my main-menu
[/list:o]Then I hide the calendars, except this one i want to transfer. (this is, because I have single calendars for every year)
[/list:o]Now, at frontend, I choose the export-menu-button and export the calendar-entries which are now not hided (e.g. 2015).
[/list:o]I got an .ics-file with all entries an categories and saved it on my computer.[/list:o]

At the new installation (J3.4.x)
At the backend I create a new calendar. The entries where importet by file (the .ics-file i got).
[/list:o]While JEvents import the entries, it also imports the categories as well when settings are made correct.
[/list:o]After this I had all the categories and entries from old calendar transfered to the new installation.
[/list:o]This workaroud I did three times for different calendars (2013,2014,2015) and everything works fine.[/list:o]

I think this discription will help some other useres in the forum. :)

Kind regards
Wolfgang

Hi!

I don't want to hijack an old thread but this one fits my needs perfectly. I'm trying to export calender entries like described in this article but I don't get it.

I'm using an customized template and I don't have have a directory "/YOURTEMPLATE/html/com_jevents"!? Do I have to create it?... Do I also have to copy "...range/tmpl/listevents.php"?

Questions Questions Questions and no plan how to start :(

Kind regards,
Manfred

Hello Manfred,

For a JEvents Export you don't need to do any of that. That's only CSV exporting.

See this video I did to explain exporting and importing:

Many thanks
Tony

Hello Tony!

Thank you for the link to the video. I'm now having the csv-file but the description of an event is not exported, right?

Kind regards,
Manfred

Hello Geraint!

It seems to be my fault. I converted the ICS file to CSV again and everything was/is fine. :)

Thank you!
