I just discovered that JEvents is no longer working on a website which I maintain. The only change recently made was to upgrade to PHP Version 7.0.19. Any attempt to display an event results in the error "Cannot assign by reference to overloaded object". I have attached a copy of the complete error. I have also included below the support info from JEvents. Do I need to go back to the older version of PHP? I do not know a whole lot about how Joomla works. JEvents has been working very well for us until now. Thanks in advance for any help in solving this problem. Jan Graves Volunteer Webmaster for Michigan Bluebird Society.

Hi Jan,

Ahh ok so this sounds like you are restricted by the years in your calendar. In the JEvents Configuration -> First tab ->
First Year to Display in Calendar or Years BEFORE Now

Set to: -2y

and set:

Last Year to Display in Calendar or Years AFTER Now

to: +5y

Many thanks
Tony

Thanks again Tony,

I do not see any option for "Edit All" in the JEvents Permissions. I did change all settings from Inherited to Allowed. That made no difference.

Not sure how I tell if I am logged in as a "Super User" It says I am a Super User in Joomla. I would think that means I am in JEvents.

Also - I was wrong. I cannot add new events. Every time I try to create an event, the calendar comes up in May, 2016. I can move ahead in the calendar thru December 2016, but cannot access any months in 2017.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
Jan Graves

Hello Jan,

Re the edit. You should be able to if you are set to edit all in the JEvents Permissions.

Re the deleted. Are you logged in as a super user?

Many thanks
Tony

Thank you Tony,

I have upgraded to the latest version of JEvents, but now have another problem. I can create new events, and they will show up in my events schedule. I can no longer edit previous events. I can edit the information regarding the event, but I cannot edit the calendar information. Is this a new feature? I need to create all events as a new event? There are many which repeat monthly and I used to just change the date.

I also seem to only be able to mark events as deleted. They do not disappear from my list. They just remain in the list with the trash can symbol.

Thanks again for any help with these issues,
Jan Graves
