Hello first of I'd like to apologize for not being able to provide the Support Info as trying to acces it results in a proxy error. I can provide you with the most basic info I would expect it contains: Joomla version 3.2.1, JEvents version 3.1.34, I did not install any add-ons.

My JEvents is configured to allow registered users to add events through the pop-up window. After already having done a lot of configuring and styling me and my client came to the realization that we'd need two additional fields and also that one inputbox should be a textfield and two other inputboxes should be integer drop-downs if possible. The plugin is currently set up to use the Geraint style format with a bunch css overrides.

In order to add/change the fields I turned to the Custom Layouts and this is where I ran into trouble. As soon as I publish the event detail page and event edit page I notice the following:

1: The detail page had it's style format removed and the elements are pretty much all over the place. The content does correspond to the event detail page file but with very weird positioning and no text styling at all.

2: The event edit page lost a bunch of fields compared to the default event edit page and displays two separate tabs, one with text fields and one with the date+time options, this was previously not the case.

I'd like to know if there could be anything fundamentally wrong and what I could do to have these custom layouts display the original, default layouts so I can work from there.

Thanks in advance,
Arjan

Hello Arjan,

1. This is likely because the new event details page uses a new div responsive layout.

2. The edit page will need to add in the custom fields etc from the right hand drop down.

Unfortunately for you it just means you need to redo everything with the layouts enabled as obliviously it is different as it allows full customization control.

Many thanks
Tony

If I understand correctly you're telling me to add new styling from scratch or copy the old styling to a new file that works for the custom layout? Actually looking into it a bit more it seems the old detail view did not have any css applied to it through JEvents, it was template & bootstrap driven CSS sitting in a table. After enabling the custom layout there is indeed a structure of div's -- these at least seem directly stylable but also time consuming. would you advice me to apply CSS to the div structure or is there a way to go back to using the table structure?

I get this but it would help me immensely if I could see how the default edit page code looks like without acces to phpmyadmin.

Hello,

1. It is styled by default of our bootstrap loaded code if you enable the bootstrap option dependent on version.

2. Why would you need phpmyadmin access? You just edit the event edit custom layout and select the fields you want to add from the right hand drop down???

Thanks
Tony

Thanks to your explanation I managed to fix the detail view's layout and I am confident I can get it to display whatever I'm planning to add.

The reason I am looking for the file used to display the original edit page is because I am not that code savvy and after several hours of trial and error I can't really get it to work like the default edit page. (can't seem to get all the info back on a single tab and I also couldn't find any documentation on changing the type of user input such a scalable text field or a drop-down with integers.)

So far your leads have brought me a lot further, so thanks for that! If the remainder of my problems would require more personal attention I am willing to make an arrangement to turn this into something mutually beneficial. :)

Again, thanks so far.

Hello,

You are very welcome.

To remove the tabs it's relatively straight forward. But see:

https://www.jevents.net/docs/jevents/it ... iting-page

It explains how the tabs are generated in the custom layout tool.

Thanks
Tony
