After I finished adding about 80 events to the calendar by entering them in the back end one at a time, the Latest Events module lists all these events as today's events even though they are not; and the Front End component (month view) shows all these events in today's cell.

However, when I edit an event (either in the admin or in the front end, doesn't matter which) the data seems correct. These are all annually repeating events; they are all All Day events; For example: one is dated 09/02/2000 and repeats annually for 100 times. (The start and finish dates are both 09/02/2000; and it is set to be an all day event.)

It seems that the created date (or modified date; I can't tell which) is being used to position the event instead of the event's date.

Yet the event list in the back end has the right timesheet info. But the timesheet info isn't controlling the output of the module or component.

Furthermore, the {eventDate} tag in the module output injects the created date, not the start date, into the output. .

How can this happen?

I logged back into the back end, and the time sheet column is NOT correct any longer. It now shows the CORRECT range of years, but not the correct month and day.

For example, the event list in the back end is as follows:
The timesheet column says:
From : 1948-04-25 00:00
To : 2047-04-26 23:59
and the created and modified columns both say:
2015-04-26 14:45:44

But when I open the event for editing I see the correct timesheet information:
Start and End date are both shown as 02/24/1948
and it repeats annually 100 times.

So the year is right but the month and day are not!

Simlilarly for all the others, except that most have no time shown with the dates in the timesheet column.

Hello J,

I'm very sorry to hear that it does sounds extremely bizzare. The only issue I could think off could be if they were imported. But you are saying you manually created them.

Did you use the pop-up selector to select the dates? or manually enter them?

Thanks
Tony

One thing to eliminate as an explanation - you haven't put selected the most recently created mode within the latest events module? If you do that then ${eventDate} will use the date the event was created

Either choose a different display mode or use ${startDate} instead of ${eventDate}

Thank you both for replying.

The infostring on the backend event list not matching the event editing field's contents is inconsistent with some of these suggestions.

As it turns out, there is a bug in Jevents' event editing code. This is the first time I was using a version recent enough to include an option to allow direct entry of dates, and I selected that option because the requirement to use the date-picker had always been a productivity frustration with older versions that did not allow that.

However, this feature is not ready for prime time; it should be removed until debugged.

To fix my 80 entries, I had to wade through ten-clicks per item, six of them on the date picker. On the editing screen for each event:
1. Click the Start-date's datepicker. It appears with the correct date highlighted, just as is visible in the field.
2. Click the date. The field will become empty but the date-picker will remain on screen, and still have the correct date highlighted.
3. Click the date again. The field will become populated with the same date that it had at first.
4. to 6. Do the same for the Finish Date.
Then save the event.

BTW, this problem occurred even though when I first entered the events, the system accepted them and nearly all were entered in proper format. Every now and then if I would leave off a leading zero or enter a short year, SOMETIMES Jevents would notify me that it had corrected it and other times just fail to save until I corrected it.

Anyway, direct entry of the date field is buggy and should not be offered until masde more robust.

Why the effect was to use the date field's year, but the created field's month and day, I do not know. But that is the effect.

Sorry to hear of your problems - you are not using the most up to date version of JEvents (3.2.12 is the latest version).

If you upgrade and still see the problem can you tell us what date format you are using for your creation date input?

mm/dd/yyyy was the format.

I will test this again after I upgrade.
