We are working on our new website and we like to have a calendar on it.
JEvents seems to be the right plugin for this purpose.
The install is okay, but we can not create an event or categorie.
The site that appears looks like kind of destroyed or so.
We can't find anything that should to be installed as an add on.
Any suggestions what we can do?

Can you include a screenshot to show what you mean?
Can you enable Joomla debug mode and maximum error reporting to show any errors you get?
