We are using JEvents 3.4.50 on Joomla 3.9.12 with PHP 7.3.9:

For registered users there is a menu function "create new event". This function is set to "registered" in the menu and always results in an error message when calling:

Error: 0
Call to a member function update () on null

If the same menu entry is called up by a user with "super user" authorization, the input form for creating a new event appears.
Why can not the "registered" user create an event?

At "Authorized Users" it is set to "allowed".

Hello,

So in your settings you have enabled Authorised User mode. Only the registered users added here will be able to create events.

If you disabled Authorised USer mode then it will use the ACL Settings you are settings.

Also, check the categories ACL too.

Many thanks
Tony

Does the registered group have create/edit/publish rights for at least one category or the specific category set in the menu options?

Registered Users are allowed to create new events, admin User must publish it.
This setting works fine with JEvents 3.4.49, but not with 3.4.50.

Would have been good info to know in your original report. Geraint or Tony will need to address this then.

You are welcome. The info will be valuable for them when they take a look, should help them narrow it down quicker.

I have changed the settings only to use Joomla ACL, not the Authorized User - Function of JEvents. Now it works again. Thanks.

Finaly, i've discovered the reason for this issue:
In joomla global options, the editor was set to "codemirror". "Codemirror" dosn't work with JEvents. All Users with editor "Standard" or "Codemirror" got that error, all others (with other editors) not.
