JEvents 1.5 (No longer actively supported)

Link on events to add to Outlook calendar  Topic is solved

JEvents 2.0 was launched over 2 years ago and the latest stable version is version 2.2 which will run on Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5. JEvents 1.5 is therefore no longer actively supported - you should upgrade to JEvents 2.2+ as soon as possible.

Hi,

We are using Jevents 1.5.3. Our users would like a link on the events to add the entry to their deskop calendar (typically MS Outlook).

Is this possible? Have I missed something explaining this in the documentation and configuration?

Thanks,
Annabel

Hello Annabel,

I am not sure with such and old version of JEvents. But you should be able to create and ICal link in the calendar which users download and open it should then add it to Outlook.

Regards
Tony

I found a solution as follows:

- Go to Jevents Global Configuration
- Ical Import/Export tab
- tick the parameter called Show Ical Download Icon In Event Detail

After setting this parameter, a small icon appears on each individual event page allowing you to link to Outlook.

Unfortunately I the icon for adding a certain event to the Outlook calender doesn't appear.
What can be the reason for that. I have followed all your instructions.

Joomla 2.5.26
Jevents 2.2.8

Hello,

The reason would be the user is not Authorised to create events?

Are they in a usergroup which is allowed to create events?

Thank you for your reply.
But I want anyone who visits the website to be able to export a certain calender entry to his outlook or ical without beeing registered.
Is that possible?

Hello,

We have this option for whole calendar or individual categories.

Just create an iCal export menu item?

We do have it working for individual events too configurable in the JEvents config.

I am looking at re-visiting this section and riding it up with some new functions.

Hello,

You would need to enable:

Show Ical Download Icon in Event Detail

In the Ical Import/Export configuration options.

Although at present this will just show an iCal download which should still work.

The benefit of the Export Link, means you users can subscribe to a category of events they are interested in and it will update with new events when you phone checks the link.
