Hi Geraint,

after a fresh installation of JEvents 2.2.8 I've got a 500 internal error when I click on the "JEvents" menu. Standard mask on the front end is fine. Here are the server data:

memory_limit = 640M (have tried to increase this up to 1024MB with no luck)
PHP Version 5.3.20-1~dotdeb.0
Datenbankversion: 5.1.66-0+squeeze1
Datenbankzeichensatz: utf8_general_ci
PHP-Version: 5.3.20-1~dotdeb.0
Webserver: Apache
PHP-Interface für den Webserver: cgi-fcgi
Joomla!-Version: Joomla! 2.5.8 Stable [ Ember ] 8-November-2012 14:00 GMT
Browsererkennung: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:18.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/18.0

If you need more information (for example the backend credentials),
please give me your E-Mail address.

Thanks for any help.

Please enable maximum error reporting in the Joomla config (server tab). You should not need more than 64MB of memory so that is not the cause.

Hmmmm...... server / site has now only 64MB of memory. I tried to enable "maximum error" and after that I tried to call the "JEvents" menu, but unfortunately I got only this message:

"Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Web Server at developmentscout.com "

Unfortunately there are no other error-logs entries which could me push in the right direction of this issue...

Any ideas?

You may have additional error logs available in your server's CPanel.

Well, after investigating all the logs, I have found this extract lines from the error.log down below. Seems that something is going on with the "fast_cgi_module". But this is very strange because JEvents is running approx. 5 month on this servers without touching the configuration.... Suddenly it fails.

Hello,

Have you tried disbaling Fast-Cgi?

I would ask your host if they recently upgraded your php version..

Hi Tony,

yes I tried to disable the fast_cgi module in Plesk. But after doing this I can not run any site (instead of that I can save a file ??). So therefore I switched again to fast_cgi.

Because of that this a a root server (and yes, there were some update three days ago), I cannot ask my host :-)

Hello,

Why can you not ask your host? this is likely and issue with some thing they have recently done?

Tony

I can't ask my "host" because I'm responsible for the server and I have made all the updates in the past (without any problems). So in the case it has something to do with one of the latest updates, I have to investigate what's wrong.

The strange thing is, that I have a mirror site with almost the same content (and also JEvents) but with a different domain-name on THE SAME SERVER, and the call of JEvents in the Joomla backend works perfect. I'm confused...

Did you check your virtualhosts configuration? It might differ from one domain to another and that might be the reason.
