Whenever I add an event in the front, it redirects to that event details page. I want it to keep me or redirect me back to the month view page, and specific month I was viewing. How do you do that?

This is hard coded in adminstrator/components/com_jevents/controllers/icalevent.php - we don't redirect to the month calendar since many sites suppress this view because they have hundreds of events per day and so the month calendar uses up too much server time.

This is really confusing. So how do I get it to take me back to where I was in the monthly calendar? http://screencast.com/t/lM65GaQffj . It is such a pain to go through so many steps just to edit events on the front. I should just be able to click in calendar cell, add event, have it close, and keep me in monthly view. When I edit an event, after save, it should take me back to month view. If not, how do I make this happen? This isn't the way any other calendars work so it is very confusing.

As I said you can edit the file adminstrator/components/com_jevents/controllers/icalevent.php and look at the 'save' method and switch the redirect from the event detail to the month.calendar view (as opposed to the day.listevents view).

I was able to get this to work but I have one more issue. I put in a repeating event starting in June. When I go to July and edit it, then save, it takes me back to the original date in the calendar. I'd like it to stay in July. http://screencast.com/t/8Ps8RTB2En

Or, is there a way to allow popups when in admin mode? You can see, it never allows me that. It just goes to another screen where you have to choose edit. When not logged in, popups do work.

Hello,

In JEvents cPanel -> Configuration -> Event Editing

Frontend edit in popup - YES

That will show the edit windows in a modal pop-up.

It has always been set to YES though and it's never worked ever since I used this calendar. Any other ideas?

To clarify, I mean the ability to edit the event right there from a link in the monthly calendar view, like google lets you do. Sorry, didn't mean popup on the event detail page. That popup edit works.

Can you elaborate on how to edit the php file listed above. I have found the file but can not figure out what piece of the code to edit. My calendar goes to detail view on save. What line or lines do I have to change in order to redirect to month view on save. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Code: Select all

Hello,

Sorry can you please clarify I think we have two things going on here mixed with the original post. (in future can you create a new topic rather than piggy backing on another).

So do you have two issues?

1. Event editing from the monthly calendar? the edit links do not work?

2. Saving events redirect to monthly view?

Thanks
Tony
