JEvents 2.0 was launched over 2 years ago and the latest stable version is version 2.2 which will run on Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5. JEvents 1.5 is therefore no longer actively supported - you should upgrade to JEvents 2.2+ as soon as possible.

Two things which I need to speak to a/the developer of this app about:
We are trying to transfer items from an old database (about 14 tables with five fields: uploaded, date, location, description) into the jevents database. I've already written a script which grabs every item and will individually insert them into the jos_jevent_vevdetail and jos_jevent_vevent (sequential detail_id, ev_id, and evdet_id so they all match each entry). I cannot however figure out a way to generate the rawdata field and I don't know if creating that will actually successfully connect the two table rows. Any help with this would be appreciated. A script that would allow me to send variables with my own custom values would be great though.
My boss and I made a mini script which will display the first complete sentences in the first 500 characters of each event description you can place this php code in the file modules/mod_jevents_latest/tmpl/default/latest.php at line 600
Code: Select all
                        $y= $dayEvent->content(); $x= min(strlen($y), 500); // Added by Adam and Luke to trim cotent return to 500 char or less
                        $opentag= 0; // for wacky <.> tags
                        while((($char_cmp = substr($y,($x-1),1)) != ".") && ($x > 1) || $opentag){
                        $x = $x - 1;
                        if ($char_cmp == ">"){
                        $opentag= 1;
                        if ($char_cmp == "<"){
                        $opentag= 0;
                        } // End While loop.
                        if ($x <=1){
                        $content .= $y;
                        $content .= substr($y, 0, $x);

then comment out: $content .= $dayEvent->content();

The rawdata field is not important - it is there so that if we discover a problem with the event repeat generation algorithm then we have all the raw data to be able to rerun the repetitions generation without having to re-enter the data.

In other words its is not used and will probably be dropped in the next major release.

You need to have an entry for the repetitions table too (and ideally the rrule table).

If your imported events are not repeating the best way to see the intereaction between the tables is to add one one event in the system via the browser and look at the relationship between all the new table entries.
