JEvents 1.5 (No longer actively supported)

Editor in frontend

JEvents 2.0 was launched over 2 years ago and the latest stable version is version 2.2 which will run on Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5. JEvents 1.5 is therefore no longer actively supported - you should upgrade to JEvents 2.2+ as soon as possible.

To use an editor in the front end the call to the editor function can not use the variable 'content'. The function tries to find the id tag with the value 'content' and place the editor there. You need to change the variable from 'content' to 'jcontent'. From the little I've tested the following seems to work:

In administrator/components/com_jevents/views/icalevent/tmpl/edit.php

line 107
Code: Select all
<?php echo $editor->getContent( 'jcontent' );  ?>

line 219
Code: Select all
echo $editor->display( 'jcontent',  JEventsHtml::special($this->row->content()) ,  "100%", 250, '70', '10', $t_buttons) ;

In administrator/components/com_jevents/libraries/saveIcalEvent.php

line 34
Code: Select all
$data["DESCRIPTION"]   = JArrayHelper::getValue( $array,  "jcontent","");

I'd like to understand where the problem is coming from before making the change.

Is this a conflict with your template by any chance? Does it have an element with the id "content" elsewhere on the page?

Yes it is a conflict with the template. I'm sorry I didn't explain it very well. It is the case where an id exists called content. I know I can go in and change the id on the template but I have read others in the jevents forum that have also had the problem

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1107&p=2895&hilit=contentx#p2895
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=381&p=2636&hilit=contentx#p2636
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=771&p=2299&hilit=contentx#p2299

I was hoping since it is still a beta version that the change wouldn't be too difficult. I'm not being sarcastic, I don't know if there is more affected then what I found.

I just wanted to understand if it was a more serious problem than just a template clash.

I will of course change the id.
