JEvents 1.5 (No longer actively supported)

No config file is present

JEvents 2.0 was launched over 2 years ago and the latest stable version is version 2.2 which will run on Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5. JEvents 1.5 is therefore no longer actively supported - you should upgrade to JEvents 2.2+ as soon as possible.

My environment:
Linux
php 5.1.6
Joomla 1.5.9
Apache 2.2.6
Database 5.0.27

Loaded Alpha3, everything appears to have loaded correctly, according to Joomla.

I did the database setup.

Went to Control Panel > Configuration, and got this:

Config is not writeable.

I checked the files on the server, and the file /com_jevents/events_config.ini.php does not exist.

I uninstalled, deleted all files, and reinstalled. Same result.

I tried creating an empty config file, and uploaded it with permissions 777, to see if it would overwrite, and it did not work. (It was just a thought.)

Any ideas on why the config file doesn't appear?

Absolutely no ideas.

Are you using the FTP layer?

Yes, the ftp layer is on.

Today I uninstalled jevents, and did this:

Using file com_events_1274.zip, I unzipped the file locally, and then used ftp to load all the files to the tmp directory.

I installed from the tmp directory, got a 'succesful install' message.

I did "DB Setup", which was successful.

Going into the com_jevents directory, there are seven folders, and these six files:

index.html
jevents.defines.php
jevents.php
metadata.xml
mod-defines.php
router.php

There is no config file.

When I open the Configuration icon, this message immediately shows: "Config is not writeable, Modified: 2009-02-04 09:07:09 CST "

This makes sense, as there is no config file.

When I try to save the configuration, I get this message: "Warning... You need to chmod config file to 0777 in order for the config to be updated(/(my path to the directory removed)/administrator/components/com_jevents/events_config.ini.php)".

I am looking in com_jevents, but there is no file called events_config.ini.php.

Am I using the wrong zip file?

Surely it's not just me. (Okay, maybe it is, but I sure can't find the problem if it is me.)

Help?

There should be 9 folders in that folder and the list of files is quite different to the one you listed.

Did you install this manually or using the Joomla installer?

I've used both methods with the same result.

The file I am using is com_events_1274.zip.
