I have the same issue as well, I am getting "You can't access the private section of this site." and " You are not authorised to Manage Events" My client is a Chamber of Commerce for our Parish and they have it setup to post events on the website in the top right corner but I have been unable to get past this part for a month or so and they are on my butt about getting the calendar back up so that the community can see the upcoming events. I have turned off the autherised user feature, I have made her user the admin for the calendar and every other hint I could find but still can't even get her logged in to get past that to look at the reason that it is not posting to the web. This seemed to have happened when I changed hosting companies. The old host was a linux centos 6.7 and no panels and was fully managed. This one I have cpanel and CLI and cannot get it to work. Somone please give me a hand with this. stmarychamber.com. If I login there with my superuser login, it goes to "https://stmarychamber.com/calendar.html" with 403 error.
This is an ACL issue, you are being kicked back because the user does not have sufficient permissions. Check all the ACL in JEvents for the user groups they are assigned to. Make sure nothing is set to Denied.

Also, check the ACL of the menu item.

Many thanks
Tony

thanks tonyp, unfortunately the entire site was down when I got to it this morning and liquidweb support is looking at it. They said it dont look good because they restored from yesterday and it is the same thing.

Fatal error: Namespace declaration statement has to be the very first statement or after any declare call in the script in /home/stmarychamber/public_html/libraries/src/Application/ApplicationHelper.php on line 9

they said they were going to restore the site from another day and restore the database. i hope they know what they are doing..

Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet.

I have reset the password several times but same thing. Its almost like its not seeing the users group at all.Any chance you could login and check it out for me? I have all the credential in this ticket??

Sounds like you have an issue with your site. We don't provide hands on support to free members I am afraid, this is definitely an issue with ACL / setup. You can debug a users permissions in the Joomla! Users List and under the username there is a debug permissions. It should give you some insight.
