I'm having trouble with searching for custom field values from either the front end or back end (admin).


  1. I've turned on "Allow searching for events based on field value" and "Search within whole of field value."
  2. I have a phone number field where, if I search from the front end for 123-456-7890, I find the associated events. If I search for 7890, it does not. Toggling "Search within whole of field value" doesn't seem to make a difference.

  3. Somewhat relatedly, searching in the back end (admin) Manage Events screen doesn't seem to search custom fields at all. It appears that this is by design, as the tooltip says that "You can search event title and description here." I highly recommend adding a feature to search custom fields from the Manage Events screen.


So right now, we're only able to search from the front end and only the start of the field value.
How can we correct at least the first issue?

@bbauman You should remove the log in info from the post above.
Place them in the Site Details Tab - that way they are only viewable by the Jevents staff.
