Hi Tony, Hi Geraint,

Maybe this question does not belong here, but I have to ask about how the forums are set up.

Before I ask a question, I first search the forums to see if I can find an answer. Unfortunately when I do that here, I might find the same question(s), but I cannot find an answer. Reason is that I am only a "Silver" club member and the questions that have been asked are in the "Gold" Forums. Where I can understand that there needs to be some differences, the forums might be better if they were organised deĆfferently.

As a "silver" club member, I have access to the Custom Fields, but when a "Gold" member ask a question about the custom fields and post it in the "Gold" member Forum, I can see what they post, but none of the answers - which might help me solve my problems.

I like to find the answers myself, and do not want to cause the people who help more problems, but here I cannot find answers unless I ask the same questions that others have asked.

It might be easy to configure the forum for bronze, silver, and gold members in the short run, but in the long run, it might be better to set this up for the plugins, themes, and/or modules.

Questions for the Plugins/Themes/Modules that are included for the Bronze Club Members in one category where the bronze, silver and gold club members can post and see the answers, Questions that are asked for themes, plugins, and modules included only to the silver club members in another category so that only the silver and gold club members can post and see, and then a category for only the plugins, themes and modules that a gold member has access to.

It is nice to see the questions that others ask, but when we do not see the answers we have to ask these questions again. I have been looking around the forums for quite some time now in search of answers, but it seems that evrytime I find a post that might deal with my problem, I cannot read any answers to that post since it was started by a gold member, even though the question was concerning something about a module, plugin, theme that is included for a bronze or silver club member.

And one other question. I also like helping others when I can. I have lso answered a few posts here concerning simple stuff. Is that okay? I know that some sites do not like it very much when I give people answers to their questions, if I should not do so, let me know and I will stop.

Thanks again for the great event/calander component, and please keep up the great work.

Hello Norman,

Thanks for your concerns. In your scenario you would then be best filtering by category leaving out the gold member forums.

We allow searching the questions so it may answer other peoples issues. But most of the time the gold forums are for gold questions or because the user wants priority support.

If you just exclude the gold forum category from your search that will solve your problem.

Many thanks
Tony

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the reply. I can understand that, but the answers to these questions could also help others. Unfortunately these answers are not shown to users unless they have a gold subscription. This causes us to have to ask the same questions again for an answer.

If I exclude the "Gold" Forum from a search, I often do not find a question that is similiar to what I am looking for, I only find these in the "Gold" forum, although the question is about something that is included for "bronze" or "silver" club members. Where I can see that someone has had the same question, I cannot see how the users problem was solved which leaves me without a solution :(

It was just a thought about how the forums are set up here, not meant to be criticizing or complaining. I actually do not have many problems with the component or it's addons, this is just something that I noticed while looking around trying to find some ideas from other people about how they have set up thier sites and how they use the component.
