Events sorted by Date

I have to manage a lot of events, but I am not able to put them in the right order, according to date.
They are in the right date order, but only in the backend (Manage Events) but not in the Frontend.
I would like to display at least the first 8 or 10 dates and and after expiry and deleting the second ten and so on.

Any idea how to handle it.
Mode 8 orders the event by the date they were created not when they happen.

Try mode 2 or mode 3 in the drop down

I tried mode 2 or mode 3 in the drop down list but then will
no events shown in the Frontend. I also tried 6 but then the events are not in right order.
Now I tried 8 again and the events are in the right date order, but one event is missing.
