Database tables massive in size

Hi,
at present time we are unable to make a backup of our website and the issiue seems to be that 3 of the JEV tables are absolutely massive and nothing seems to reduce the. THe tables are
JEV_usereventsmap
JEV_agendaminutes
JEV_customfields

THe first two are at over 12 million rows and tlast over 5 million rows. these take up 1.6gb og the 1.7gb database.

Deleteing any event entries has not hade any difference even one that had a recurrence of 9999 times by accidendt.

It seems that once entries are created they are not deleted at all.

We need to get these down to a manageable level or just leave these tables out the backup entirely.

Any advice or guidance would be really helpfull as this just seems wrong.

Hi Tony,

That seems extremely strange. What version of JEvents are you using? can you post your JEvents Support Info?

Have you deleted all past events?

How many future events do you have? for the first two to have 12 million rows is crazy, do you have tens of thousands of events?

Hi,
no we have not deleted all past events as we want to keep the history of some, a good number were set to 999 repeat and one was set to 9999 repeat but these have now been reduced (not deleted anrecreated just the repeat reduced.. Here is the file you asked for:

I need to know what we can do to reduce these table to a sensible size, or i just leave them out the back and face the consequences if we ever restore

Hello,

First and foremost update Joomla!! You are extremely out of date. Same with JEvents.

Then can you provide us with super user and phpmyadmin/database access so we can do an events audit?

Hi,
sorry for the delay. it is unlikely that the customer will allow the upgrade of joomla or jevents as there is to much cost involved in paying for all the additional joomla and jevent modules again and retesting all customisation. THis is always an issue with customer sites they assume fire and forget not that it could cost them serveral 100 per year to maintain because of the options they wanted an customizations.

Is there any way of getting a script so i could just drop those 3 tables and recreate them? THe agend minutes they are not even using in any event anyway so no idea why it has created so many records. Would uninstalling that option enpty that table?

Hello,

Everything that is on J3.6 should really work with J3.9, very few exceptions causes a BC break on the .x releases.

So Agenda and minutes is for the links to and from Joomla! Articles. You can uninstall Agenda/Minutes plugin or disable it and test the event creation if it looks the same you can uninstall it the remove the data table completely.
