We have been a long-standing user of JEvents and have just migrated the site from Joomla 2 to 3.6 and JEvents 3.2.21.

We have about 10 calendar categories and existing events are displayed correctly. But the Add Event category drop-down only shows two of the categories. This applies in both the front and back ends. The Menu item category option is blank.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'the component map of the categories'. However, the problem is easily resolved by just adding new categories.

Have you checked the main menu item(s) to ensure you have "Select categories - leave blank for all" is blank? I had a similar issue sometime back, and it was because I was selecting certain categories to show only. I'm not sure if this is what is causing the problem for you or not. Might be a good start.

It's blank, but thanks for the suggestion. I have added new categories to replicate the existing ones and these now appear in the Add Event category drop-down.

Sounds like a bug that they might have to work out for you. Glad it's somewhat working for now though!

Hello,

It sounds like the component map for the categories was not updated correctly.

Did you manage to solve it?

Many thanks

Hello,

Adding new categories is fine. But your existing events are mapped to the existing categories. It all depends who the data was migrated as to what caused the error.

Many thanks

I think it'll be too much trouble to try and find the source of the error. Having two categories, old and new, with the same name isn't going to be a problem. We're not producing event statistics by category, for example. Many thanks for your suggestions.
