I just updated Joomla to 3.9.21 with Events 3.6.4. Previously, I had numerous events over the past 6 years. Now there are none. The existing categories are available, but when I create a new event, there are no choices for category in the drop-down list.
I tried fixing the Joomla! database, re-installing jEvents and rebuilding the categories. Still I am unable to add an event.
Are you editing the event in the frontend or backend?

Did you add a title to the event - the category selecotor appears when you have added a title

Yes. Then the entry for Category became visible, but none of the existing categories are in the dropdown list. Under Categories, the existing categories do show up. I clicked "Rebuild" but this didn't make a change. I edited a category without any effect.

Can you use the DOM inspector in Firefox or Chrome on the category selector - it should be a <div> element replacing a <select> which is hidden. If you unhide the select element are there any categories there?

If you create and event in the backend so you see the categories?

What settings do you have on the permissions tab of the JEvents config?

I do not see a category selector anywhere in the DOM. (I think I understand what I'm looking for, but I'm a novice at this.)

Also, in addition to not being able to select a category, the previous calendars (I had 3 in addition to Default) are not shown in manage calendars. And, none of the previous events are available in Manage Events.

When I attempt to view the calendar in the front end, nothing but a dot in the upper left cornet shows (both in Safari and Firefox) - no calendar layout (I've never used anything but the default.

Sounds like a combination of permission issues and possibly a php error somewhere.

Can you give me login details and url on the private site details tab below

No. And I've just about given up. I update Jevents to 3.6.5 and problems persist.

I can create an event in Firefox, but when I choose the calendar menu item the screen is blank - there is only a single dot in the top left.

I create an event, save and close and then publish it.

And, I guess you have quit supporting Safari. This sucks. There are reasons that Firefox doesn't work in my application.

My only choice is to remove jEvents from my site.

If this is possible I'll also check the issues in Safari too - is it Safari in MacOS (its working fine for me on my site v. 13.1.2)?

My primary computer uses MacOS High Sierra. Two other computers I use have El Capitan and cannot be upgraded. Events doesn't work with any.
